iPhone U.K. Launch Myth

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

As you all know, iPhone launched in U.K and it seems people have a short memory of how things went down in the Kingdom. Of course, O2 announced that iPhone was the fastest-selling smart phone ever put on the shelves, but Weblogs are not reporting that the event was not as big as O2 wants you to believe. Apple has consistently put larger numbers up in the U.S. than in Europe. I don’t even think Steve Jobs believed he could actually get as big an interest as he got for iPhone in the U.S. It’s simply impossible. iPhone rocked the U.S. and it will probably rock the Europe too though there are more legit competitors in Europe it seems. For all that matters, iPhone’s launch was not a total bust, but rather a less than expected success. So why complain?

iPhone Fever Reaches Europe

Apple iPhone is finally taking Europe by storm. Apple put iPhone on the shelves today in the U.K for 269 UK pounds. O2 will be the mobile phone service provider for the iPhone, but just like in the good old U.S. you can unlock the phone if you can. Here is the catch however: you will be putting your warranty on the line if you unlock your iPhone. That is a small price to pay it seems. Here for more on the story.

iPhone 2.0: Top Features To Add

Apple has been always on the cutting edge side of the technology with its iMacs, iPod, iPhones, and numerous other products that it’s released in the past few years. But why is iPhone missing some of the most basic features are still a question to us all:

GPS: Apple iPhone is missing the main feature that most smart phones offer these days - GPS capability. N95 is a good example of a phone that has provided this feature to users without much fuss. iPhone 2.0 will most definitely have this feature, but why Apple chose to skip this feature is a big question. One answer to that would be the high cost of iPhones upon introduction…

Camera:  What good is a camera if it’s not able to take high quality pictures. Apple iPhone’s 2 MP camera is decent, but is definitely not up to bar with the quality of other features on the iPhone.

Memory: iPhone 1.0 has a limit of 16 GB memory, which is no deal breaker at this point. But having more room will definitely help make iPhone a real music Smart Phone.

Touch: Adding the touch to iPod was a nice touch! But, there have been many issues with the interface and typing on iPhone can be a hassle. Apple may have to come up with a way to avoid such issues with iPhone 2.0.

So what other features would you add to iPhone that would make it irresistible, even more so that is?
