Will T-Mobile Gets Its Hands on the iPhone?

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

That doesn’t seem to be close to happening anytime soon. Sure you can get T-Mobile on jailbroken and unlocked iPhones, but other than that there are no plans at this point for Apple to work with T-Mobile. But it’s funny that T-Mobile’s CEO recommends Apple’s stock. So here are three reasons Hamid Akhavan (which by the way is from the same city I am from) is recommending Apple’s Stock:

  • Because it’s a no brainer. Wouldn’t be embarrassing if you picked a stock that bombed right after you did? With Apple introducing the new iPhone, this guy can’t go wrong.
  • Because he knows something we don’t. Maybe a T-Mobile-Apple deal in the works, and Hamid would know that as the CEO of T-Mobile. You would think!
  • Because he wants to get a chance to get a deal done with Steve. Now this is the least likely one of the three, but I wouldn’t put it past T-Mobile to do something extraordinary to get a piece of a sweet pie that is iPhone.

So what do you think? Does he just want to look smart with his safe pick or is there something more to it?

AT&T Denies New iPhone’s Coming

Well. There is not surprise. Apple is the master of creating buzz and hype and the suspense is big factor behind Apple’s successful product launches. AT&T is currently not commenting on the rumors and also is not giving much about to price drop on these new iPhones. But the rumor is that we are looking at a $199-$229 starting price for the iPhone 2.0. Of course, the better iPhones will be a bit more expensive, but a $229 iPhone with a 2-year contract is a tad bit more affordable and should help iPhone reach even more homes.

iPhone Killer “Instinct” to emerge soon

While it is known that June 9th will be the day that iPhone 2.0 will be released, there are several so-called iPhone killers that will be released around the same time. Of course, we all know that nothing these other guys have come up with so far has managed to properly challenge the iPhone. But Sprint believes that their “Instinct” will put up a good challenge against the iPhone. But here is why it will not:

  1. It looks pretty much like an iPhone copycat. It surely has some nice features but Apple is a brilliant marketing company. So even if Instinct was better than the iPhone, which is not by the way, it would still struggle to get attention when the iPhone 2.0 is released.
  2. Sprint is not exactly the best service provider out there. So despite them claiming that people should jump on this soon before it’s gone, I believe people would rather wait a few weeks for the iPhone than Instinct.
  3. You can’t kill an iPhone with an iPhone lite, now can you? Most cell companies are struggling to really come up with any original ideas and that’s what’s hurting them. In my mind that will continue for the foreseeable future.

iPhone Release Date: June 9th or 19th?

Actually, it seem the answer is both dates. Essentially, iPhone 2.0 will be presented by Stevy Jobs on June 9th. However, AT&T and Apple store will start selling it a week or so later. Strange, but that’s what iPhone’s blog is claiming. Of course, some of us will be pulling our hairs out until the phone beccomes available in stores.

Write The Date Down: iPhone Coming on June 9th

Finally, we have a definite date to work with for the iPhone release. There have been so many rumors about when iPhone is going to be released, but now the consensus seems to be on June 9th, WWDC. The good news is that iPhone will be treated similarly to other smartphones as far as price and discounts are concerned. Apple is also promising that more iPhones will be in stock which is great news as who would want to sleep in the streets like people did last time to get their hands on the iPhone.
