You can basically make and receive phone calls over Wi-Fi with your iPhone 3G. But not only that, you can also use a VoIP service such as Lingo to save on your minutes.

Australian iPhone Costs $279!

Say you are in Australia (in which case we would be extremely jealous), and you want to get the new iPhone from Apple. How much should you expect to cough up for one of these babies?

Well. According to Sidney Morning Herald, you can expect to pay $279 for the 8GB model and $399 for the 16GB model. You do get what AT&T promised us a while back which is Wi-Fi access at Hotspots.

I wonder how Australians embrace this shiny phone. If you are in Australia and reading this, drop us a note.

iPod Nano and iPod Touch to Improve

If you are an Apple iPod owner, you should not feel left out with all the upgrades that Apple is planning to make for the iPhone 3G. The good folks at Engadget are claiming that the Apple iPod line will also get refreshed somewhat with new capacities and lower prices.

I still believe that Apple will need to address the identity crisis that the iPod line is suffering at some point in the future. Maybe that the surprise for September?

It’s All About Porn!

Yet another interesting article about the effect that iPhone 3G will have on the porn industry. I did mention in an earlier post that I believe the porn industry folks will go anywhere and everywhere to get their material in front of the watchful eyes of men and women around the world (I am not even going to get into the discussion that which gender watches porn more).

Here is what I know. iPhone is a multimedia powerhouse. Porn videos are obviously multimedia and a form of entertainment to some folks, so it wouldn’t be surprising to see someone watching it in a semi-public place.

I also know that porn related searches form the majority of searches everyday by the folks around the world. Sure. Sites such as MySpace and YouTube are out there, but if you look at stats provided by WordTracker and KeywordDiscover, you see that 30 porn terms are in the top 50 most searched items in the past year or so.

Will porn be a problem for Apple? I am not sure. It wouldn’t be difficult to block out the content, but I would think you got to be at least 18 to get an iPhone (OK. If you are younger and you get it, it’s just not fair). I am sure Apple has ways to combat content dilemmas on their digital content powerhouse, so I wouldn’t be too worried. I guess the better question is, why even associate porn and iPhone in the 1st place?
