02 New iPhone To Be Offered Unlocked?

We asked for it, and it seems we are getting it. Apple and AT&T plan to offer the new iPhone unlocked but there is a price. $599 for the 8GB iPhone and $699 for the 16GB iPhone. Also the prepaid service is not available with the unlocked iPhones.
While I think it would’ve been better if these phones were more affordable, Apple should be applauded for realizing that not everyone wants to be tied up with a two year contract with AT&T.
Still a big development though.
