Steve Jobs is AOK!

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

There were rumors going around for a few weeks about Steve Job’s health condition. Questions about his health were raised apparently due to him losing some weight and looking pale in some of these conferences. Whatever it was, it wasn’t cancer! Steve Jobs is more than a CEO to Apple. If he leaves the company, you can expect Apple shares to lose some big time money. So, I wasn’t surprised that Steve decided to take matters in his own hands and call up people to tell them that he is indeed fine. Steve Jobs may look like a God but he does get the flu and other niggling illnesses that you and I get on an everyday basis! But we all know everything Apple comes with a lot of hype.

New and Latest iPhone Apps

This past week was a busy one for the iPhone App developers as several Apps were launched or updated on the Apple store. Here are the more notable ones:

Aim

The AOL instant messenger for iPhone and iPod Touch was updated for the iPhone OS 2.0. Unlike the previous version, you can now use the AIM Blast to send IM to multiple people. But more importantly, the app is free and more stable, so you’ve got nothing to lose in that regard.

Astr

Astromo shows you the locatino of heavenly objects at a specific time. Pretty useless application but is one heck of a time killer! And you have tooth ache, it can help you forget about it. Believe me!

Bla

BlackJack 3 hand edition is the new version of this game for the new iPhone. The glitches that made the game crash are fixed now, and you can play up to 3 hands of BlackJack at a time. It’s only $3.99 which is not bad considering that some worse Apps average $9.99.

A

300 Bowl is now updated for the iPhone 2.0. The version has been improved for the new iPhone, and some of the glitches are fixed. Another cool game.

As

Loan Calculator is not such a special App really if you think about it. But it’s a simple way to figure out how much your loan payment will be while you are on the go. I know some of you don’t need a calculator to get the number but this is still cool for the rest of us.

P

The most useful App in my mind is one that allows you to interact with services that you use on an everyday basis. Flickr is one of them for me, so when I saw Mobile Fotos. These guys use Flickr API to allow you to upload or browse photos on Flickr. This is not the official flickr App.

iPhone 3G Review By Engadget

The good folks at Engadget have posted their review of the new iPhone 3G. The review is very intersting but they are right on one main thing. iPhone 1.0 is truly the only worthy competitor for the new iPhone. It seems the other companies have simply lost the plot by trying to mimic everything that Apple does. Microsoft simply has never had it to lose it.

Bank Of America Claims App Launch Success

We reported a few days bank that Bank of America was the first major financial organization that jumped on the iPhone ship as they usually do on any new technology. NY Times is now reporting that BoA folks are claiming to have had significant success with mobile customers since the launch of the Bank of America iPhone application.

I have worked with banks, and I know the mentality that goes on inside financial organizations. The fact that Bank of America pulled this off is truly admiring. Not a lot of banks are willing to spend time and money to try new things so it’s good to see that Bank of America is proving them all wrong.

iPhone 3G Portable Genius - iPhone 3G Guide

iPhone 3G Portable Genius

Well. It didn’t take the good folks at Wiley to come up with a book for the new iPhone 3G. I am sure we are going to see iPhone 3G for dummies and iPhone 3G definitive guide books in the future, but what I like about this book is the fact that it’s full of tips. I hate books that start explaining what iPhone means and the theory behind it and how it can save cancer. The best thing about a gadget book is the tips that you can get from it. Everybody knows the everyday tips like how to zoom in an image or rotate, but advanced iPhone security tips or advanced wi-fi tips are things that one would pay $17 for.

iPhone 3G Portable Genius is not released yet, but Amazon will be shipping it shortly. Lock in your copy today!
