Live iPhone Link to Google’s Picasa with AirMe

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

I just caught this press release about AirMe launching their application which links iPhone to Google Picasa and Flicker allowing iPhone owners to send photos to these services on the go. Now AirMe has been out for a while, and we have covered it in the past. It’s a free iPhone application which is very handy for people who take a lot of pictures with their phone and want to post them to Facebook and and other photo sharing sites on the go. But I guess if you had to choose between my words and the formal press release, you’d go with the press release as well :) Check the application out here.

iPhone Development University

Tools

You got to admire Apple for being proactive in getting young programmers involved with its mobile platform, something that I wish universities encouraged. The truth is many colleges in this country pay more attention to teaching obsolete courses such as Pascal and C and less attention to the new development kits. I am not saying that universities shouldn’t teach C. In fact, I learned more from programming C than I did from programming Java and C# combined, but at the end of the day you want to graduate with a degree and skills to make it in this world. There are many experienced C and Java programmers out there, but how many iPhone programmers? How many Ruby On Rails programmers?

Here is Apple’s Take:

The iPhone Developer University Program is a free program designed for higher education institutions looking to introduce curriculum for developing iPhone or iPod touch applications. The University Program provides a wealth of development resources, sophisticated tools for testing and debugging, and the ability to share applications within the same development team. Institutions can also submit applications for distribution in the App Store.

Too bad I am not in college anymore…

Who Says Soccer Is Boring?

It’s really amazing how many cool application you can find in the iTunes App store. For some reason, I assumed that soccer and sports would not look good on the iPhone, but boy I was wrong. The Real Soccer 2009 is one cool soccer game for the iPhone. The graphics is not anything like Fifa 2008 on PS3, but they are darn good for a smartphone.

I know I said that racing game was the best game on the iPhone, but now I have to really acknowledge that this ties that if not betters it. It’s just an awesome game. I can’t wait for the updates which includes the multi-player feature.

The iPhone Developer’s Cookbook

The iPhone Developer's Cookbook: Building Applications with the iPhone SDK (Developer's Library)

I posted a note about this iPhone cookbook a while back, but I have some bad news folks. The publication date for this highly anticipated book has been pushed to mid-January 2009. I think it’s too late but I guess the changes that have been made to the SDK may have thrown curveballs at the author. I will be watching this book closely for the next 4 months.

Sanity Makes a Comeback At iTune Store

After a few weeks that useless applications such as “I am rich” or “Ur Rich” dominated the iTunes store, sanity seems to have made a comeback as the popular Pocket Guitar iPhone application has become the king of apps in iTunes store. Now I got to say that while Pocket Guitar does not make Einstein out of you, it can certainly do wonders for your guitar skills, especially if you play with its virtual strings for 6 hours or more a day. And technically, you can do this at work and don’t get caught ( but I am not recommending that now, am I?)
