Linux On the iPhone?!

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

You got that right. You can officially put Linux on the iPhone. Now I am not suggesting that the current Mac OS on iPhone is any bad, and I love my iPhone the way it is. However, it is always encouraging to see possibilities available for a device such as the iPhone.

The good folks at Gizmodo have an interesting theory about Google putting Android on iPhone, which is more than possible if you can already put Linux on the iPhone. I personally don’t consider Android a threat to the Mac Mobile OS right now, and I am sure Apple is alert about the possible future threat from Android. But what I am more interested about is to see if Apple will pull a Microsoft on us by limiting or banning Android to be put on the iPhone.

What’s your take?

Apple iPod Touch Doesn’t Get in Customer Vote Promotion

Amazon’s customer vote promotion is back again, and there are some amazing deals available for a limited time. Now these deals are given to folks randomly which means you may not get lucky after all. But it’s surprising that Eee and Flip are included in the voting process, and iPod touch isn’t. I guess you still have a lot to be thankful for if you win the PS3 deals, but I would have liked to see iPod touch included in the voting process. It would’ve been a no-brainer.

You decide: Should iPod Touch be offered through Amazon Customer Vote? How about the iPhone itself (knowing that it won’t be on Amazon anytime soon).

Apple prepares for Another Lawsuit

One thing that success bring around the world is lawsuit. We all saw what happened with YouTube when they got bought by Google. Apple has had way more success than any other company in recent years, and even the bad economy has not been able to significantly stop Apple from reaching its goals quarter after quarter. But one thing that you can’t avoid in this country is lawsuits.

Elliot Gottfurcht is the latest individual suing Apple for stealing his idea. He is claiming that he has invented Safari before Apple. OK. Maybe not that. But Elliot is claiming that he came up with the idea to show web content on Mobile phones using XML. He has a patent for it too! Here is thinking that Elliot the inventor will be paid a decent amount of money to go away, but I guess that’s what he is after anyway.

BlackBerry Storm Better than iPhone?

rim, blackberry, storm, smartphone

Believe it or not, we have yet another story about a device that wants to beat iPhone in its own game. BlackBerry storm is the latest device to have the title of iPhone killer. Now, let’s not pretend that iPhone has won the business sector over yet, but it is making inroads. Having said that, I was pretty impressed with BlackBerry storm. Admittedly, I don’t own the device yet (waiting to get it for the Christmas), and I probably won’t have a need for it anyway, but the specs that I have been looked at seem to indicate that Storm is a great little business tool.

The reviews have been rave too. Blackverry’s are notoriously loved by business folks, but the new generation of business gurus are moving on to the iPhone because it has some very unique features and it does make you look smarter. Is Storm better than the iPhone? I am not sure. It’s different, and it has some nice features. But better? I think that’s just pushing it.
