Which one of these chess puzzle apps do you like the most?

The iPhone is a highly popular smartphone. That goes without saying. The device is shiny but offers a ton of features as well. According to the latest ACSI rankings, Apple tops other players in the mobile phone industry easily. Apple topped the list with a score of 83, much higher than Nokia, LG, and HTC which tied for second place at 75.

At 83, Apple’s iPhone is a game changer when it comes to customer satisfaction. No other cell phone company has ever broken into the 80s. Apple’s nearest competitors this year are three companies tied at 75: Nokia (+3%) and ACSI newcomers LG and HTC.

The race is much closer among iPhone carriers though. While Sprint sits at the top with a score of 71, Verizon (70) and AT&T (69) are not far behind. There is a good reason Apple continues to sell a ton of iPhones each and every year. While some people complain about the iOS platform being a closed one, there is no doubt that Apple puts a lot of effort in providing a superior user experience to its customers. That explains why the company dominates these customer satisfaction surveys all the time.

Apple is going to bring the iPhone 5 to the market in a few months. It could also introduce its own iHDTV soon. Judging by early surveys, such a device would be highly popular. The recent 2012 ConsumerMetrix survey by Market research firm Strategy Analytics suggests that nearly half of those already own an iPhone would be very or somewhat interested in buying an Apple TV set. Of courses, it all depends on what Apple offers in its TV sets and how they are priced. There is no word on when the iHDTV will be released to the market at this point.

The iCloud is a very nifty service by Apple to backup and store files online with. The service has been around for a while now. So it is not a surprise that Apple plans to introduce a whole host of new upgrades for this service. According to the Wall Street Journal, Apple will allow iCloud users to share sets of photos with other users. Commenting on them will be possible as well. These features could be introduced at Apple’s WWDC this year.

The introduction of photo sharing will make iCloud more competitive in this space. Apple is also working on a new feature that will allow iCloud customers to sync their videos via this service. Access to “Notes” and “Reminders” through iCloud.com will also be offered. Apple will have to stay quite cautious with the upgrades it plans to offer to keep storage costs under control. iCloud could, and should, get a whole lot better though.

iCloud is not the only thing that Apple is thinking about upgrading. MacBooks are rumored to be in line to get a major upgrade as well. We have been hearing a lot of rumors about the future MacBooks. According to Bloomberg, the new Apple laptops will have a slimmer design with Ivy Bridge processors on-board. To achieve this thinner design, Apple is expected to ditch the optical drive.

A new rumor suggests that MacBooks could get a retina display. They will have the latest Nvidia graphics as well (possibly Nvidia GT 650M). Buyers should be able to play some decent games on these laptops. These are just rumors at this point. If true, Apple laptops are going to get a whole lot better.

This design suggests that the headphone jack is attached to the earpiece and WiFi elements. The funny part is you can actually buy this component off of SW-Box for $7.71. There is no way to confirm this is real though. It is true that the iPhone 5 will have a major redesign over its predecessor. We will have to wait and see whether it will have the above-mentioned component inside.

Speaking of designs, the iPhone 5 concept by [FUSE]Chicken is something to be excited about. Apple probably won’t release anything like that though. This concept describes an iPhone with liquidmetal chassis, a 10 megapixel camera, 5 mp Facetime camera, and a 4 inch widescreen display. This iPhone 5 concept is good looking but too good to be true for now.

iAnnotate PDF: the main app we use in our company. It is not the cheapest PDF annotation app around. But its development quality is superb. It provides you with various tools to annotate your files with. Dropbox and WebDAV are supported too.

GoodReader for iPad: one of the most popular PDF apps for iPad. It has a beautiful interface and can read virtually anything. It handles huge PDF and TXT files well too. Of course, you can use this to edit your PDF files.

PDF Expert: we have used this app to fill out PDF forms many times in the past. It reads iWork, MS office, and other file formats. It supports GoogleDocs, iDisk, and Dropbox.

GoodNotes for iPad: lets you take handwritten notes, sketch diagrams, and mark-up PDF files. It organizes your documents on a beautiful bookshelf. GoodNotes is fairly affordable too.

Notability for iPad: this is one of the best note taking apps we have tested. It lets you annotate PDF files, draw diagrams, and record audio. It support Dropbox sync.

Type on PDF Pro: Type on PDF is compatible with iPhone and iPad. It lets you make smart fields and templates on top of your PDF files. This is quite a handy tool for businesses.

DocAS for iPad: another special PDF editor for iPad. It lets you annotate PDF files, take notes, record audio, and export PDF files. It supports importing/exporting from/to Dropbox, Box.net, iDisk, FTP, Google Docs, and WebDav services. This keeps your documents organized too.

There are many similarities between what these apps do. PDF annotation apps are not always cheap but they let you make changes to your documents on the go fast.

Apple has been quite successful selling iPhones and iPads in the past few years. There is no reason this year will be any different. The company is expected to release the next generation iPhone later this year. Considering how popular the iPhone 4S has been, the next iPhone is going to be very popular as well. The latest rumor suggests that the iPhone 5 will be released to the market in September. That’s according to DigiTimes, which is not always the most accurate source.

The new iPhone is going to provide support for 4G networks. A recent survey by PCWorld/Macworld suggests that the iPhone 5 with LTE is going to be a huge success. Of all the Macworld readers asked, 70% showed interest in buying the device while 48% would consider pre-ordering it. Close to 1250 people were surveyed as a part of this study.

Can’t wait till September? Apple could have a surprise for us all in August. We have heard many rumors about the so-called iPad mini in the past. Digitimes is reporting that Foxconn will soon start manufacturing smaller iPads, which will be released in August. Steve Jobs was not a big fan of 7 inch tablets. But the popularity of devices such as Kindle Fire may have encouraged Apple’s management team to change course. We’d be more excited to see a 13 inch iPad though. How about you?

There are plenty of awesome docks available for iPhone. Some of these docking stations could cost you a ton of money and take a lot of space. The Bracketron MetalDock is an elegant iPhone add-on that holds you phone in portrait and landscape mode. It has a compact design and does not take a whole lot of space. This product is made from heavy-duty metal construction, so it will last a while.

The Bracketron MetalDock has integrated USB power cable for charging your gadget. You can sync your device as this dock holds it. You should be able to fit this dock anywhere as it does not take a whole lot of space. The price is not terrible either at $34.95. The Bracketron MetalDock is expected to start shipping in June 2012.

Speaking of cool iPhone accessories, Nukles is a pretty cool iPhone case with a 4-finger hole handle. This handle makes holding your phone easier. The case has a hard metal body construction and protects your iPhone against shocks. It improves your grip as well. Keep in mind that this is not the brass knuckle iPhone case that we covered here a few months ago.

The Nukles Case is available in multiple colors. The case is developed to better protect your investment but it will cost you a good amount of money. These cost you $154 each at the time of this writing.

The Apple TV is a powerful device. But most of us have been waiting to get our hands on Apple’s real TV. We have heard a lot of rumors about the Apple iTV in the past few months. The latest one revealed on Cult of Mac suggests that the device is real and will have Siri and FaceTime. The source claims the iTV resembles an Apple computer but is much larger. It can make FaceTime calls using the built-in iSight camera. The camera offers facial recognition and follows users as they move.

The rumor suggests Apple’s upcoming TV will offer deep Siri integration. The specs or pricing details are not known at this point. Considering that Apple monitors cost a fortune, it is highly doubtful that the iTV will be cheap. Steve Jobs had claimed to have finally cracked the code when it comes to building a TV. So far, we are not surprised by these rumored features though.

The iTV has the potential to be another super popular device for Apple. But most analysts believe it won’t make its debut anytime soon. JP Morgan analyst Mark Moskowitz explained that Apple’s HDTV won’t be released in the near future:

We are not sure that the Apple premium could prevail in the TV market, unless there is a radical change of the user interface, integration of the TV programming and data content, and use of gesture or voice control

Will we see the Apple iTV device in 2013? It is entirely possible. Apple has surprised us in the past.
