10 Best Airport Apps for iPhone

So you are planning to take a trip to somewhere distant? I don’t know about you but airports have always been painful for me. Having to deal with delays and all kinds of things that could pop out of nowhere. And you certainly don’t want to sit around at an airport, waiting hours to catch your next plane. It’s always nice to have all the tools you need to find your gate fast, get some food, and even catch a cab at your airport. If that’s what you are looking for, here are 10 airport apps for iPhone you should try:

Flight Update: a great app to track incoming flights and stay on the top of things at airports. Provides you with seating charts and even meals in your flight.

Airport Maps: a cool affordable app for iPhone that shows you where you can catch some food at your airport. It also gives you a map of your airport, so you know where to go right away.

iFly Pro: covers 350 airports, and it includes information on restaurants, parking maps, retail stores, and so on. It even tells you rough parking rates as well.

Cab4Me: so you are looking to catch a cab? This is your app. Very easy to use interface and especially helpful if you travel a lot.

FlightTrack Pro: helps you track your itineraries on your phone and comes with the push system to keep you on the top of things at all times.

HotelPal: a cool, free hotel application for iPhone that lets you find hotels and reserve your room on the go.

GPS-Eat-Shop: the name is pretty self-explanatory. This app comes with a collection of tools to help you find places to shop, eat, and even workout.

Airport WiFi: looking to catch free internet at your airport? This app has over 11,000+ airports covered and tells you which one has free WiFi.

LiveATC Air Radio: lets you listen to pilot talk when you are stuck at an airport. Nice to know if you have a long delay coming.

WingX: one of the best aviation solutions for iPhone. Comes with the moving app and all the good stuff you would except from an app for the pros. It’s not cheap by any means, but very useful for the pros.

Did I miss any? Please suggest your favorite apps in the comment section.

  1. Wow! How could you miss: GateGuruApp? PreFlight? USAToday AutoPilot? Airport Status? All of these are killer apps that should be included. GateGuru was even featured in an Apple TV commercial!

  2. @Benet. Yes. We miss good apps once in a while :) It’s tough to keep up with all the good ones that come up. That’s why we always ask for everybody’s opinion. Really appreciate you bringing up those apps.

  3. Great article! I've downloaded a few of those Apps.

A new free Airport App went live a couple of weeks ago – it's called Point Inside. It has indoor smart maps that show all the gates, ticketing, shops, food, restrooms, etc. It's pretty cool, hopefully you can add it to your 2011 list.
