So we have 3 operating systems from three companies that are vying to get more marketshare in the mobile industry. Microsoft has been the long time leader as far as the mobile OS goes. However, Apple has indeed cut into Microsoft’s lead with the Mobile Mac Os and all the goodies that come with it. Apple also makes the hardware, which has been a long time strategy for it over the years in other businesses such as the computer business. Android and Google Android phones will also make a run which will put Microsoft under even more pressure.

A lot of people have come to use Windows Mobile product by habit. Not everyone likes to jump around from one OS to another so Microsoft will keep its lead in the market for the foreseeable future. Having said that, Microsoft seems like a company that makes products for the past whereas Apple and Google do so for the future. It has worked out for Microsoft before, but sooner or later Microsoft will pay for being just a follower and not a leader in industries that it enters.
