What Firefox and iPhone Have Anything in common?
So what do a browser (desktop application) and a mobile digital powerhouse have in common? On the surface you are comparing Apples and Oranges of course. Hard to compare hardware and software solutions. But what Firefox and iPhone have in common is innovation! Both these products try to go outside the box and bring game changing experience to the end user. Firefox and iPhone have their competitors running ragged, and Microsoft and phone providers are scrambling to come up with a solution to stop the momentum of these great products. So in hindsight, these products are very much comparable.
Now you may have heard that Firefox has been struggling a bit to gain attraction in the corporate environment. That could be attributed to IT units being risk averse and not wanting to put their trust in an open source solution. iPhone, too, was predicted to have a dismal corporate showing, but that doesn’t seem to be the case. I have seen many executives and senior managers that have their BlackBerry and still got iPhones because of the game changin experience that it brings to the table. Sure. iPhone still has a long way to go to become the leader in the corporate environment, and to be brutally honest is not tailored towards corporate users. But don’t expect Windows Mobile devices to have it so easy in the future. It seems every single phone maker is coming up with some sort of catch up product these days. That I would call the true power of iPhone, and we are all better off because of it!
