iPhone Number Of The Day!

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

2 Mil! That’s right. AT&T network is much bigger due to leveraging iPhone to lock 2 Mil customers for at least 2 years. I have often mentioned that AT&T is the weaker link in the partnership with Apple, but Apple iPhone is so good that people have bought into the whole concept disregarding the disadvantages of using AT&T network.

iPhone is truly the best thing that has happened to AT&T. Even though it competes with many of their Blackberries, iPhone is expected to top them up in the upcoming year. Besides, with iPhone 2.0 coming relatively soon, AT&T’s deal will get even sweeter. One would wonder when Apple will try other networks or better yet OK unlock iPhones.

AT&T is going business with iPhone

AT&T has introduced a few new plans for iPhone, this time for business users. Basically, AT&T has unbundled its plan to data and voice plans and you pay a different fee for each of these plans. Like the consumer plans, however, you need to sign up for two years. Check out more details on these new plans here.

iPhone, AT&T, and Verizon’s Open Platform

Everyone in the mobile industry is excited about Verizon’s new initiative to provide an open platform were all compatible phones can connect and be used through Verizon’s network. This is a big step towards mobile platform independence and Verizon needs to be congratulated for their effort. However, where does iPhone stand with this? For one, it seems iPhone is contracted to at&t for 5 very long years. Of course, it seems there is a loophole where Apple could come up with a different version of iPhone, let’s say Open iPhone, that could be used with Open networks. One main problem is that Verizon’s network is CDMA-based and not GSM, but if there is such a loophole, then Apple should take advantage of it. iPhone belongs to all and should be enabled to be used with all compatible mobile networks. Let’s hope!

iPhone UK Commercial

So I had a chance to watch the iPhone commercial before the Mayweather vs. Hatton PPV event, and it was awfully close to what we see in the U.S. It talks about how it is better to have iPhone that has an iPod in your phone. The only difference was at the end where in the U.S. we have “Only on at&t” and here I saw “only on O2.” But believe it or not I thought the accent made the commercial much more interesting. The British accent really fits with the whole iPhone image. I wonder if Apple might play a version of that commercial with a different accent in U.S. I doubt it but it would be awesome if they did.

Apple or at&t: Who is actually getting the better part of the deal?

at&t or Apple? Who is getting the better part of this apple&t partnership. Apple is obviously shoveling up money from these iPhones as so many people have failed to resist the temptation that the iPhoneness of Apple’s new product brings to the table. But what is at&t bringing to the table? To tell you the truth, I am surprised that iPhone has been as successful as it’s been in the past few months, and that is certainly not due to at&t but despite of at&t.
