10 Best Fight Games for iPhone

So you want to play real games on your iPhone? I am talking about 3D action games that can keep you on the edge of your seat. You’d be surprised how far iPhone apps have come in such a short period of time. The quality of some of the 3D games available in iTunes blows that of games on other mobile platforms out of the water. Since there are thousands of apps available in iTunes, you’ll never be out of options either. No wonder many consider the iPhone to be destined to dominate the mobile gaming world for quite some time.

If you are looking to play fight games on the go, here are 10 exciting combat iPhone games you should try:

Modern Combat: a multi-player heavy action game that involves you going after terrorists and complete various missions. The graphics are superb and the action is intense.

Brothers In Arms – Hour of Heros: one heck of a 3D fighting game for iPhone. The graphics are superb and the weapons available are very intriguing.

N.O.V.A: interested in fighting aliens and shooting them down? Then this game is for you. Plenty of weapons to choose from and enemies to fight. Read the rest of this entry »

Apple Bans Use of The Word “Android”

In a move that could remind us of the stone age, Apple had decided to put one over Google by banning the term “Android” in its app store. Flash Of Genius is a small startup that has been developing training & educational apps for Android and iPhone. The company has had a lot of success on Android and was a finalist in Google Android’s Developers Challenge. That’s a great accomplishment for a developer anyway you look at it. So it’s no surprise that the developers at Flash Of Genius decided to include their accomplishment in their iPhone app description. As it turns out, Apple doesn’t like the word Android too much.

The above pictures is how the app would have looked like had Apple accepted it as it were. But one should be a very optimistic person to expect Apple to allow such a blasphemy in its app store. After all, all the people who visit this page will become Android fans, right? Now if I were Apple, I would try to be a bit more vague about it. But Apple doesn’t pull any punches: Read the rest of this entry »

5 Killer 3D Fight Games for iPhone – Part I

Apple has tried to position the iPod Touch and iPhone as a mobile gaming device recently, but unless you try some of those cool 3D games on iPhone, you are not going to realize what the platform is capable of. There are a lot of cool 3D games that provide you with kill graphics and game play. Sure, the iPhone doesn’t come with proper buttons to be a fully-fledged mobile gaming device like the PSP, but the quality of games are getting higher by the day. Who needs a PSP when you can play high quality 3D games on iPhone.

Among all the 3D games that I have tried on iPhone, the fight games intrigue me the most. They are just more engaging and kill time like no other app. If you are into 3D fighting games, here are 5 cool iPhone games you should try:

Blades of Fury: Blades of Fury is one killer 3D classic fighting game for iPhone. Very Mortal Kombat like. Fight against your friends or the computer. Awesome graphics.

Star Wars – Force Unleashed: one of the best mobile Star Wars games around. The graphics are out of this world, and the game play is fun. Had more fun playing this game on iPhone than I have ever had playing Star Wars on other consoles.

Hero of Sparta: one heck of a sword hero game for iPhone. Slay all kinds of demons with your weapons and hack and slash your way towards a win. The graphics are awesome and the game has very high replay value. Read the rest of this entry »

iPhone Games On the Rise

Apple iPod touch 8 GB (2nd Generation)

The iTunes store is full of colorful applications for the iPhone and iPod Touch. The last time I checked, there were over 20,000 applications available for download. But not surprisingly, over 6000 of those applications are iPhone games. A few months ago, I talked about how the iPhone was challenging the PSP as the top mobile iPhone platform. With 6000+ games to choose from and iPhone games becoming more sophisticated, there is now no question the momentum is with Apple in the mobile gaming market.

If you look at the apps that have dominated the best-sellers list on the iTunes, most of them belong to the gaming category. The entertainment category is not far behind. This does show that many use their iPhones to kill time and entertain themselves (perhaps while they are traveling or waiting for a job interview). But unlike PSP, business applications are very popular with iPhone owners as well, which means the iPhone has a decisive edge over PSP and other mobile gaming devices.

Your take: would you consider purchasing a PSP in the iPhone era?

iPhone Gets its Own SimCity

I don’t know about you, but I’ll always have a soft spot for SimCity. I grew up playing the game, and it was the talk of the town when I saw it first. Now, SimCity is getting its own iPhone presence.

Just like other SimCity games, the iPhone version allows you to rule over your very own cities. You can build skyscrapers, building, and so on, and then test them against disasters, UFOs, and … You will also get to manage all the things that go behind building and managing a city. SimCity is truly a great game (whether you try it on the iPhone or your PC). While there are a few bugs in the game, it’s well worth taking a look at.
