The Day for iPhone 4, Safari 5?

The wait for the next generation iPhone is by all means over. Apple is expected to announce its brand new smart-phone at WWDC today. The rumors have been all over the place, but thanks to the Gizmodo leak, we have a much better idea what iPhone 4G is all about. The device will have a front facing camera, a better display, and hopefully a much better battery. The new iPhone is expected to take advantage of a 1 GHz A4 processor and a camera flash.

As you can see, we all know a lot about iPhone 4G thanks to Gizmodo. So it’s sad that Gizmodo’s team was not invited to the event. Don’t expect that issue from keeping these folks from covering the event.

iPhone Beyond AT&T: Will It Rule The World?

We are only a few weeks away from iPhone 4G’s release date. The device is expected to be announced in early June and ship later that very month. Walmart dropping its iPhone 3GS prices and AT&T increasing its termination fees after June 1st all point to that. There are many of us who hoped to get a Verizon iPhone this year. Unfortunately, that does not seem to be happening at this time. The same goes with other carriers. That does not mean there is no demand for iPhone in those networks. AT&T could potentially lose 6 million customers to Verizon if it lost the iPhone exclusivity. That’s mainly the reason AT&T is making it so difficult for people to get out of their contracts.

Wired.com ran an even more interesting story. Apparently, a big chunk of Verizon customers are ready to give iPhone a try, without having to switch their network:

There is substantial pent up iPhone demand within the Verizon installed base as 16.8 percent of Verizon subscribers said they are ‘very likely’ to purchase an iPhone if offered on the Verizon Network,

In the meantime, there are rumors about a Sprint iPhone. We can’t reject or confirm those rumors, but they do seem a bit far-fetched at this point. We do, however, know that iPhone 3G is officially being discontinued. According to a few celebrity tweets, next generation iPhone commercials are in the process of being produced, and a few will focus on iPhone’s video chat feature. Does Apple know how to promote a product or what?

June 7th is only a few days away. Steve Jobs says we won’t be disappointed with his announcements. We shall see.

Apple To Release White iPhone?

We are only a few weeks away from the official iPhone 4G release date, but the web nation can’t stop speculation about what we are going to get with this new phone. According to Apple Pro, not only we are going to get a major upgrade feature-wise, we are also going to get a color upgrade as well. Let’s face it. Not everyone likes the dark, shiny design of iPhone 3GS. If the rumors are right, we may get a white iPhone 4G too.

How credible is this story? It’s tough to say. It’s one of those stories that can be true, but there is no way to know unless we see the real things. We have to agree with Wired.com that the pictures do look a bit fake. Then again, that conclusion is based on the two leaks that happened just a few weeks ago. Things may have changed since then. Apple Suffered Huge Loss From iPhone 4G Leaks?

The Apple  – Gizmodo debacle has gotten a significant amount of coverage in the news lately. The story has refused to die down with more details coming into light. Gizmodo has already had to deal with the cops. Many blogs condemned the treatment that Gizmodo blogger received while condemning Apple for losing the prototype and blaming it on Gizmodo. But that is not the whole story. Apparently, Apple has claimed to have suffered a “huge” loss after details about its new phone were leaked to the media.

By publishing details about the phone and its features, sales of current Apple products are hurt wherein people that [sic] would have otherwise purchased a currently existing Apple product would wait for the next item to be released, thereby hurting overall sales and negatively effecting Apple’s earnings

said George Riley, a lawyer representing Apple. Detective Matthew Brand’s affidavit sheds even more light on this whole story. Read the rest of this entry »

Apple Loses Another iPhone 4G Prototype

Apple seems to be making a habit of losing those iPhone prototypes. Everybody who has been following the latest iPhone news knows about the whole Apple – Gizmodo debacle. Apple seemed furious about its iPhone prototype getting lost and being picked up by the media. That whole episode did get Apple a lot of coverage (good and bad). One might think that Apple would get its act together to avoid any future leaks, at least as far as iPhone HD is concerned. That does not seem to be the case as Apple seems to have lost yet another prototype. Images and more details have started to surface all over the Internet. Either Apple has been careless or it wants these leaks to keep people talking about its device.
