Make Art With the iPhone

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

Before trying Flipbook iPhone App, I thought it was only a doodling app. Really. If you go to the iPhone Apps store, you basically see an app that looks like it’s only good for doodles. But a friend of mine who has tried it told me that you can do more than just that. It’s simply a pocket animation studio. From layering to playing with colors, you can do it all with Flipbook. I personally like the fact that you can tap and start working with the selection of tools. Even my Grand Pa had no trouble using it. The only thing that I have against the app is the price really. $9.99 for an iPhone app is a lot unless you are an animation freak. But then again, I spent twice as much weekly on “how to make $10,000,000 in 2 seconds” books.

Do you Disco?

It seems a lot of people do that with their iPhone. I was just checking the iTunes store for the newest iPhone Apps and to my surprise, the Crazy Disco iPhone App is the top seller iPhone application. I admit. This application is decent unlike the “I am rich” app but still, of all the applications available on the iTunes, one would believe that the killer app does more than just Disco.

Are You A “Sucka?”

Now that’s not a question you hear everyday, and I truly didn’t want to go there. But after seeing some nice dude selling a useless iPhone app for $999, then I just had to say it. The Am I rich application which is going for $999 on iTunes store is to remind the rich people that they are rich. It absolutely does nothing else. Do I expect people to fall for this latest lame tactic? Absolutely. If people can pay $1000 to get a piece of paper with the word “PS3″ on it (that actually happened on eBay), then they can pay for this junk too. There are only four reasons why anyone would fall for this:

  • You are filthy rich, but you have not worked a minute for your wealth. So you can afford to throw around money like it’s nothing.
  • You are a poor guy but trying to pretend hard that you are rich. Having a useless $999 app can help you do that.
  • You are an idiot who don’t know the difference between the moon and an Apple.
  • You are a sucker, thinking that buying this application is a long-term investment that will make you rich.

So don’t be a sucker. Ignore the “are you an idiot” app.

What is FireBox?

It’s not a box on fire. I can tell you that. In fact, it very much reminds of the KeePass. KeePass is a program that allows you to store your private information in a secure database with double locks (a pass and a pass file). FireBox is a miniature version of that for your iPhone.

With Firebox you basically setup a password protected box for yourself. Then you can easily put your half-important information in it. You can them organize them as you wish. The app uses a 64 bit encryption and it shuts down when iPhone is asleep. But here is the thing. I would understand you putting a phone number or even your car registration number here. But don’t put social security and credit card info in there as nothing is 100% foolproof.

Decent App nevertheless.

iWant iPhone App

Just found a neat little iPhone App that is going for free on iTunes store. Basically, this App (which is very nice looking) allows you to find gas, restaurants, and shopping centers around you (similar to what GPS devices do these days).

As you can see above, that’s not all it does. The one cool thing about this is that as you move the results refresh automatically, which means if you are in a car and moving, you can constantly get the latest information from this App. The App does need a little work as it fails to pick up some of these places but did I say it’s free and it works well most of the time?
