AT&T Lowers Cancellation Fee for iPhone Contract

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

It’s true. Finally, AT&T is allowing its iPhoners to cancel their contract and save $5 per every month that they have been with AT&T. That’s pretty silly if you think about it. Your original cancellation fee is $175. But after only a month, you only pay $170 cancellation fee. Thanks AT&T! I just saved $5 and departed with $170! Shouldn’t the cancellation fee be maybe cut in half, third, or fourth depending on when you cancel your contract? I guess not!

Poll: How much would you pay for an unlocked iPhone?

Motley fool had a great article today about a solution for Apple that would allow it to keep the new buyers coming in while avoided the whole issue of long-term contract that at&t is forcing upon users. Basically the idea was that Apple could have a tiered pricing structure where they charge a bit more for their unlocked iPhones. That way people don’t have to get sneaky and try to hack their iPhones. They can get it from Apple, and that’s better for everybody. So here is the million dollar question for you. How much would you pay to get an unlocked iPhone as opposed to a locked iPhone? $499? $599? What would be a fair price in your opinion, considering the fact that you are not paying for the 2 - year at&t contract.
