Leaked iPhone 4G: Final Version?

In the past few days, many news sites have taken the time to cover the story of the leaked iPhone, which was apparently lost by an Apple engineer and picked up by Gizmodo. There have been a lot of speculation on whether the leaked device is the final version we will see in a matter of few months or not. While it is difficult to be sure, we can always take John Gruber’s word for it:

According to Gizmodo, one of the barcodes attached to the unit read “N90_DVT_GE4X_0493”. According to several sources (of mine) familiar with the project, “N90” is Apple’s codename for the fourth-generation GSM iPhone, slated for release this June or July. “DVT” stands for “design verification test”, an Apple production milestone. The DVT milestone is very late in the game; based on this, I now believe that this unit very closely, if not exactly, resembles what Apple plans to release.

Apple may have not expected to see a final prototype of its device to end up in the wrong hands. But a company at that level always have a backup plan. So it’s inaccurate to assume that Apple is in crisis due to that leak. But this development will certainly change the way Apple looks at some of the media outlets out there. The company may go as far as suing Gizmodo. Considering all the publicity that Gizmodo has received over its story, it may all be worth it regardless of what Apple does.

Running Android on iPhone, Impossible?

No. We are not trying to pull a prank here. Hackers seem capable of doing anything these days. That goes beyond just jailbreaking an iPhone or iPad. Why limit oneself to do that when a hacker can run Android on iPhone. A member of iPhone Dev Team, which specializes in jailbreaking iPhone, has released a video his blog demonstrating how he has managed to install Android OS on iPhone. Whey techies say Android would run on almost anything, they may be right after all.

Of course, being able to run Android on an iPhone and actually getting all the cool feature without any performance issues are two different things. Besides, the strength of the iPhone does not lie in its hardware. The iPhone may be a decent phone with more than decent features. But would people invest in it if Apple’s iPhone ecosystem was not in place?

Does iPhone Make Men More Attractive?

You are not in the twilight zone. Someone actually has claimed that men who do own an iPhone are found to be more attractive by more women. According to a scientific survey ran by Phones 4 U, out of 1500 women who were questioned, 54% of them stated that they would be more likely to date a man if he owns an iPhone. While you can’t make scientific claims only using one survey, this clearly shows why the iPhone has been quite popular among the male demographics.

There’s just something about a man who’s good with computers that makes him more trustworthy. If he’s got the cash for an iPhone then he must be very good at his job, too.

The study sounds quite silly on the surface and it clearly has a viral marketing flavor to it. Besides, according to the same study, iPhone owners are more likely to lave less money than those who have other popular smart-phones. So dating men who own an iPhone may not be such a smart idea after all.

iPhone 4G Leaked?

iPhone 4G is well on its way. If you have had any doubts about Apple introducing its next generation iPhone sometime this year, you may want to think again. When photos and videos of  an Apple’s upcoming device start getting leaked to the media, it is obvious that we are getting close to release date. There have been a few iPhone 4G leaks already, but none has been better than the photos published by Engadget.

Apparently, someone forgot to take her iPhone HD and left it for all to see at a San Jose bar. That someone will probably get fired unless it was Apple’s plan all along to leak the images of the device to the media. There isn’t a ton that you can read from looking at the above picture. Nevertheless, the new iPhone seems to have a front-facing camera and a flash high resolution camera. Here is the fun part. iPhone 4G seems to have a MicroSD memory slot too! iPhone 4 OS To Be introduced On April 8

Apple has started this year with a bang, and there is no stopping it. We already know that it has sold over 300,000 iPad units in its first week, beating iPhone 1.0′s first week sales. While the iPad is expected to continue making splashes in multiple industries, all eyes are on Apple to see what the company has accomplished with iPhone 4. iPhone 4 unit is going to be released later this summer, but iPhone OS 4.0 is expected to be introduced by Apple on April 8th. So in a matter of weeks, Apple gives us one shiny new gadget and an improved iPhone OS to go with it.

In some ways, iPhone 4 OS and how it’s received by the public is going to be more important than what Apple accomplishes with its iPad. Apple has been challenged strongly by Google Android in the past few month, and it needs to deliver big to continue keeping Andrroid at bay. For starters, Apple needs to deliver on its multi-tasking promise for iPhone. There is no reason such a powerful smart-phone does not support multi-tasking. Read the rest of this entry »
