Android Wear Smartwatch Working with iPhone

Android Wear watches are a lot of fun to use. But they are not exactly iPhone friendly. It was only a matter of time before developers found a way to change that. Developer MohammadAG seems to have managed to get a Moto 360 watch working with an iPhone. The below video shows an iPhone 6 notification showing up on a Moto 360:

The developer suggests this can be pulled off without a jailbreak on iOS or root on the watch. So how did he pull it off? As explained on YouTube, the developer relied on ANCS to get this done (similar to the Pebble).
