The iWatch is going to be a huge product for Apple. We don’t know how successful it will be down the line, but the company should be able to sell millions of these wearable devices upon launch. It goes without saying that the iWatch won’t simply run any iOS app, so it does make sense for Apple to start offering an app section for wearable devices. A recent report suggests Apple is planning to introduce a fitness platform, similar to the App Store, for the iWatch. That will allow others to develop solutions compatible with the device.
As Reuters has reported, one mobile health executive, who has asked not to be named, has suggested that Apple’s plan for wearable devices goes beyond the iWatch. Offering small and large companies the chance to build solutions for iWatch is going to help the device grow much faster. Apple is surely not just focusing on building smartwatches, so an app store for wearables could work for iGlasses and future iwearables. This is all speculation at this time though.
Speaking of exciting products, Oculus VR has come a long way since its launch. The firm got a lot of flak for selling to Facebook. But the company made the move to grow as its CEO has suggested. The goal is to bring the technology to over 1 billion users. With Facebook’s resources and infrastructure, Oculus could achieve bigger things. Many of us still remain skeptical of the Oculus + Facebook marriage though.
