Face Detection, Voice Control Coming to iPhone 5

From all the rumors that we have heard so far, it does seem iPhone 5’s release date is only a couple of months away. Apple is already readying its sales representative for a hectic September. iPhone 5 is expected to have a faster processor, a larger screen, and more memory (and many other features). As 9to5 Mac has reported, Apple intends to bring face recognition technology to the next generation iPhone.

Apple snapped up Polar Rose, a company that specialized in face recognition technology, in 2010. It is not a surprise to see elements of the acquired face recognition technologies making their way to Apple’s platforms. The company is opening up its facial recognition API to developers, which should lead to more sophisticated apps making their way to iTunes. Assistant is another exciting feature that will be a part of iOS 5. Assistant is a native voice-command application for iPhone. Rumors suggest that Assistant will work in a similar way to Siri app. The full integration of voice recognition technology in iOS will make iPhone even more useful for mutitaskers.

Many Apple fans were disappointed that the company did not release an iPhone already. But with all these rumored new features, it is no wonder that 35% of people will buy iPhone 5 in blind faith. Apple can’t afford to drop the ball this time around.
