Flappy Bird Clones, Clash of Clans Making $654k a Day?
0Not everyone who develops an app gets to make thousands of dollars. In fact, many developers don’t make enough money to keep their business afloat for more than a couple of years. Then you have games such as Flappy Bird or Clash of Clans that generate thousands of dollars for their developers. The folks at Business Insider are claiming that Clash of Clans is making $654k per day through in-app purchases and upgrades. Now wrap your head around that one.
To be fair, Clash of Clans is not just any game. It is available on multiple platforms and being played by millions of users across the globe. This business model won’t work for every game. But there is still a lot of money to be earned in this market.
Speaking of addictive games, Flappy Bird is gone but plenty of clones are taking its place. It looks quite shameless when developers copy a game and even use a very similar name to confuse app shoppers. At the same time, Flappy Bird was making thousands of dollars for its developer, so these developers are going after the money before it dries up. We have already seen a bunch of Flappy Bird clones. You could even find open source games that look similar. Why did the developer removed Flappy Bird? It wasn’t Nintendo’s fault. I also don’t buy the explanation that the game was too addictive. We will surely learn more about this story in the future.
