The recent shooting tragedies and discussions to ban certain guns have led to heated clashes between pro- and anti-gun advocates. The NRA is determined to keep guns in the hands of people whereas many lawmakers and folks would like tighter gun control laws. The introduction of the NRA: Practice Range app has not helped move the discussion forward. In fact, it has enraged some folks so much that they have started a petition to have the app removed from the App Store.
While the app does give users the ability to use assault weapons, it is not the most hardcore game when it comes to violence and guns. The time of release was unfortunate though. An online petition at SignOn.org now aims to encourage Apple to remove the app out of respect for the victims of Sandy Hook Shootings in Newtown, Connecticut:
Apple: The National Rifle Association’s new app “NRA: Practice Range” is an insult to the victims of gun violence, having been launched on the one month anniversary of the Sandy Hook shooting. Out of respect for the victims and to signal Apple’s support for common sense measures to help end gun violence, we call on you to rescind your approval of this shameless new product.
The app might see some changes in the future but we doubt Apple is going to remove this title. As far as gun control debates go, both sides are going to continue pushing their stances passionately in the upcoming months and years.
