Google Buys Nest, Over-the-Air iOS Update Files Coming?

Google has bought yet another promising company. If you thought Google was done buying after it acquired Boston Dynamics, you were mistaken. Buying Nest enables Google to complete yet another piece of its puzzle. The company is working on smart cars, smart glasses, and has impressive robots. With the Nest team, it can now work on making our homes smarter. For Nest, it was all about the opportunity to grow. Google simply had to pay a premium to acquire the team.

said Larry Page. Make no mistake about it, this is not about building thermostats. It’s about building smart products that work well with one another in homes and on the road. Google claims that Nest will continue to operate with its own distinct brand identity. The deal does raise some privacy concerns. Nest claims customer data will not be shared with Google. I doubt people will drop Nest products after this deal.

Remember the Apple lawsuit about people not being able to get installation files for iOS 7 off their phone? It seems Apple will be addressing that problem when iOS 7.1 is released. If everything goes as Apple expects it, iOS 7.1 users will be able to delete the installation files for over-the-air upgrades. The feature will be available on Setting > General > Usage. Good to know that Apple has finally addressed this issue.
