Google Maps for iPad, iPhone 5S To Have 120FPS Slow-Motion Camera

It is almost certain that the next generation iPhone will have a faster processor and better hardware in general. iPhone 5’s camera may be great. But the next iPhone might get a slow motion camera capable of shooting videos at 120 frames per second. This feature seems to have been found in iOS 7 code. Code named “mogul,” the feature is disabled at this time and can’t be activated for older iPhones (since they do not have the proper hardware inside).

The current iPhone may be able to capture up to 30 FPS but to capture great slow motion videos, a higher number of frame captures per second is needed. Now we are assuming a lot here. There is no guarantee that the next iPhone will have this capability. But it is nice to know that Apple is planning to introduce it at some time.

Speaking of new products, Google is updating its Maps application to offer a better mapping experience to smartphone and tablet users. These features are being made available for Android devices first but iOS devices will soon get them too. As Google has explained, the new Google Maps builds on the design the company introduced for iPhone last December. The app will now be optimized for tablets such as the iPad (something many of us have been waiting to see).

“Designed for tablets: A dedicated tablet design brings all the features of this new app to Android tablets and iPads, which makes exploring the world from the comfort of your living room much more fluid, smooth and fun.”

The new Google Maps app offers enhanced navigation, helping you find out about incidents on the road and discover better routes to your destination. Users can see how their friends and others rate places like restaurants and businesses easily. Latitude and check-ins won’t be a part of the Google Maps app and will be retired on August 9. This is an interesting update by Google but let’s just say not everyone is going to be happy with some of these changes.
