iOS 6.1 Passcode Bug Fix Coming, Dropbox For iOS Gets Push Notifications

Apple has done a fairly decent job handling iOS’ security issues in the past. We don’t hear about them every day but no operating system is without holes. Yesterday, we heard about a bug in iOS 6.1 that allows anyone to access your iPhone without needing a passcode. The hack grants access to contacts, voice-mail, and even photos on a locked device. There does not seem to be an easy way to patch this vulnerability at this point.

The good news is Apple is already aware of this issue, so a patch should be released soon. Here is what Apple spokeswoman Trudy Muller had to say about this issue to AllThingsD:

Apple takes user security very seriously …We are aware of this issue, and will deliver a fix in a future software update.

iOS 6.1 has not been perfect by any means. It has had a couple of bugs already (including one related to Microsoft Exchange). Let’s hope Apple releases the software patch in a speedy fashion.

Speaking of software updates, Dropbox for iOS has been updated with even more useful features. For starters, users can now receive push notifications when someone shares a folder with them. Files can be sorted by date modified. A new PDF viewer has been introduced in this app, which gives you more flexibility going through documents on your iOS device. The update is available for download on the App Store.
