According to Morgan Stanley, that could be as early as this year. The investment bank has hinted that Apple’s next generation iPhone will not only be slimmer but could include a quad-mode chip from Qualcomm with universal 3G/LTE functionality.
Most experts agree that 2012 is going to be a pivotal year for Apple. The company can’t afford to cruise its way through the year without offering game-changing upgrades in its upcoming products. Morgan Stanley’s analyst Katy Huberty has suggested that the next generation iPhone could debut in the third quarter of 2012. Its quad-mode chip will make it compatible with all flavors of 3G and LTE networks.
The next generation iPad is also rumored to offer LTE support. The device, which is expected to make its debut in March, will have a high-definition screen with a faster quad core processor. Apple is planning to bring LTE support to the iPad because the device has a larger battery and can better handle the power requirements of this technology.
The iPhone 5 will have a slimmer design and a more powerful processor. It is slated to get a redesign unlike the iPhone 4S. The iPad 3, which some have claimed was seen at CES 2012, does not look drastically different but will pack in much more power. It will still sell like hotcakes.
