Rhapsody Music Subscription Coming to iPhone?

Rhapsody is one of the better music subscription services out there. It may not get as much attention as it deserves, but it’s certainly a great way to listen to music on-demand. So let’s say you have a decent product/service to offer but are struggling to grow as fast as you expect. What would you do? You launch an iPhone app, and that’s exactly what RealNetworks is planning to do. The submitted app would enable iPhone owners to listen to streaming music on the go right on their phone. That’s an exciting news if you are a fan of music subscriptions. You can always buy as much music as you can handle, but with services such as Rhapsody you can get a sense on what new albums are all about before paying up.

Rhapsody Music app is going to be certainly interesting to play with. It’s not known what Apple has in store for Real Networks, but unless RealNetworks developers have been aggressive, the app should get accepted without too much trouble. Nothing’s set in stone however. We all know what happened with Google Voice, and I wouldn’t be surprised if Apple played the “iTunes card” to reject music apps such as Rhapsody. One would hope not.
