Verizon iPhone is almost here. After months of waiting for Apple to finally let the cat out of the bag, fans finally get to see Verizon iPhone as early as today. People are so excited about Verizon iPhone that they are almost treating it as a whole new device. As Gizmodo put it, Verizon iPhone is not a new device and may be worth passing up:
[iPhone 5] better than the iPhone 4 in some tangible way. Maybe not on the order of the leap from the 3GS to the iPhone 4, but it’ll have something new to offer. And everybody will want it, because that’s how things seem to work with Apple: There’s just enough new to make whatever Apple product you’ve currently got in your hand feel deficient in some way.
Verizon iPhone 4 may be a good choice for those who do not mind having an older version of iPhone a couple of months from now. iPhone 5 will make its debut soon enough. However, those who purchase Verizon iPhone will most likely be locked into a 2 year wireless contract, keeping them from jumping to iPhone 5. Verizon has already announced it is bringing back unlimited plans (apparently for iPhone). That will tempt even more people to go with Verizon iPhone. Apple scrapping restocking fees should help too. Unless Verizon is prepared to allow its iPhone owners to upgrade sometime around June, this phone may be worth passing up on for now.
Verizon iPhone is not the only device experts are recommending people not to buy. Apple iPad is getting the same treatment, mainly due to the information that was provided by Kevin Rose:
I have it on good authority that Apple will be announcing the iPad 2 in the next “3-4 weeks”, possibly Tuesday February 1st. The iPad 2 will feature a retina display and front/back cameras…. If you’re thinking of buying an iPad, hold off for now.
Some media members believe that iPad 2 could be announced as early as February 2011. If that is true, iPad fans may be better off holding off on purchasing iPad for now (unless they don’t mind buying two iPads in a matter of couple of months).
