Apple is behind some of the most popular and innovative phones and tablets of the past few years. The company’s attention-to-details has helped it set itself apart from its rivals. The iPhone 5 is no different. Apple seems to have paid a lot of attention to details when manufacturing the device. Unfortunately, some iPhone 5 owners are now complaining that their devices are arriving with small scratches right out of the box.
The iPhone 5’s case is made out of anodized aluminum. While it is lighter than the stainless steel used in the iPhone 4S, it does appear to be more susceptible to getting scratched. Other manufacturers that have used similar materials have had to deal with this issue as well. Apple has not commented on the problem but the number of complaints about it is significant. This is not the first time folks have complained about their new iPhones. The issue is not something Apple can address easily though.
There is some good news for iPhone 5 users as well. It appears that Verizon Wireless in the U.S. is GSM unlocked. That means buyers will be able to use their phones with another SIM card even when they are still under contract with Verizon. The folks at iDownload Blog have put together a video that confirms this. In fact, they used an AT&T Micro SIM in a Verizon iPhone 5 to pick up an AT&T signal. Now that is truly exciting.
