Those who have been around YouTube for a while have figured out that certain types of videos tend to get more views and be more popular among the YouTube community. We have all seen those silly parodies and sketches on YouTube. But it’s funny how many people love seeing top gadgets destroyed in brutal fashion. There are plenty of such videos available on YouTube. No sane person would go through with this without something to look forward to afterward, so in most cases these videos are part of a promotional effort.
Will It Blend videos are still quite popular these days. These guys have destroyed all kinds of gadgets in the past. The iPad is just another gadget to these folks. Their piece has gathered over 6 million views (just from one video) on YouTube. One has to wonder how many of those views turn into sales for the company behind these blenders. There is no doubt the word gets out though.
Not everyone’s going to use a blender to crush an iPad? If you want to make it on YouTube, you want to be more creative. So why not use a Microwave to get the job done? Just make sure you have the right tools to put out the fire afterwards.
If something’s popular on the Internet, you can expect Internet shows to be all over it. After all, killing a $600 gadget to get thousands of YouTube views may be worth it for some. It must have been worth it for A. Jones, conspiracy theorist. Besides, what a better way to make a political statement than torturing an iPad?
The above videos are all fun and creative. But sometimes, you just want to sit down and see an iPad get destroyed by a baseball bat, the good old fashion way. This video has generated over 1.7M views already. So they must be doing something right.
It is sad to see so many people interested in watching iPads get crushed on YouTube. But you can’t blame the marketers and others behind these videos for coming up with creative ways to destroy an iPad. Spending $600 to get 1M views may be worth it after all.
How would you go about destroying an iPad (if you were to post the whole thing on YouTube)?
