Robots are used all the time to test touchscreen devices. The Delta X is an open source robot that can 3D print, laser engrave, pick & place, and test smartphones. It has a modular design and can use many end effectors. It can be mounted anywhere to complete tasks.
The robot can be controlled using a computer, smartphone, and wired/wireless connections including Bluetooth and WiFi. Delta X is based on an Arduino mega 2560 and teaches you a bit about C++ too.
Delta X has max payload of 500g with max joint speed of 130-degrees/s. You can find out more about it here.
