Those of you who have been following chess videos on YouTube have probably seen multiple influencers playing chess with ChatGPT. These language models are not exactly the best when it comes to playing these kinds of games. Thanks to GPT Chess, you can now do it on your phone. It has two modes for you to choose from. In standard mode, the AI follows standard chess rules.
This app also has a no-rule mode, in which it follows the instructions provided by the AI. That means you should expect self captures and other illegal moves. You can choose GPT 3.5, GPT 4 and Gemini from Google to play in this mode. This app can also talk to you as you play.
