Chess robots have been around since the early 80s with the Milton Bradley Grandmaster being one of the first models to use a robot arm to move the pieces. The latest models run a version of Stockfish, so they can give most people a good game. Here are 3 chess robots that worth a pick up this year:
Cynus: unlike many other chess robots we have tested, this one has a robotic arm and an AI camera to recognize the pieces and play from any position. It has fun and timed mode. It has a foldable, detachable design, so you can take it with you anywhere.
Chessnut Move: it is one of the only boards we have seen that can move multiple pieces at the same time. It runs Stockfish and has voice control. It works with a wide variety of platforms using Chessnut Vision.
Harry Potter GoChess: a new robotic chessboard for Harry Potter fans. It is the fruit of a collaboration between Particula and Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products. It works with Lichess and Chess.com. It uses AI to give you hints. You can use this to solve puzzles too.
Stay tuned as we will cover more robotic chessboards in the future.
