FLIR should not need any introduction for those of you who have researched infrared sensors in the past. Its latest prototype should be of interest to iPhone users though. The company is working on a solution to bring affordable thermal imaging to consumers (at least that possibility has not been ruled out). Thermal-imaging smartphones may not be that useful to the average person but there is a market for this solution.
FLIR’s solution would enable consumers to take IR pictures with their phones. The price of such a product is always going to be an issue. Can your iPhone serve as a professional thermal camera someday? We have not seen anything that suggests otherwise.
