Remember iTether? Not surprisingly, it has made a comeback. This time around it is going by the name “Tether for iPhone” though. In its original form, the app was never going to survive in the App Store. The new app is a HTML5 app to circumvent the App Store and its restrictions entirely. The original iTether was not a cheap app by any means. It was going for $14.99 at the time it was launched. iTether did allow iPhone users to tether their device to a computer without having to pay any additional carrier fees. But it was removed shortly after launch by Apple.

Tether for iPhone - In Action

The new Tether for iPhone will be available for $30 a year. It will make wireless connections over Ad-Hoc mode. Since this is a HTML5 app, it has a better chance to stick around unlike its native version which was yanked quickly from the App Store. Tether is compatible with Windows and Mac computers and should work for most carriers.

While Tether for iPhone can save people some money in the long run, the iBGStar device can save lives. It attaches to an iPhone or iPod Touch and has a free companion app to store, track and analyze medical data. This device works like traditional blood glucose monitors but plugs straight into your iOS device. It lets users keep track of their data and follow trends and variations in them. The iBGStar is going for £48 at the time of this writing.
