Many robots use LiDAR and other sensors to map and perceive their surroundings these days. You don’t always need a robot to use this technology. The Yahboom PALMSLAM is a handheld LiDAR scanner with Raspberry Pi 5 and Jetson Nano support. It relies on a 6-axis IMU to let you know when the unit is tilted too much. It is compatible with 5 different kinds of LiDARs, including EAI X3 Pro, EAI T-mini plus, SLAM C1, Oradar MS200, and EAI 4ROS.
This model relies on WiFi-USB and microROS for wireless communication. It has a rotating smartphone holder, so you will be able to use your phone to monitor everything in real-time. The battery lasts up to 4 hours, which means you can perform mapping without dealing with any cords.
