With Google Reader dying a few weeks ago, many folks had to find other RSS reader clients to keep up with their favorite blogs. Considering how Google pulled the plug on the Reader, it does not surprise us that many folks are now interested in running their own RSS reader. Fever is one of the scripts you can use to build a killer feed reader service. Just bring your own server. Don’t forget to check these 4 awesome iPhone and iPad apps for Shaun Inman’s Fever:
Sunstroke: we have been playing around with this application for quite some time. It is a universal app designed to work with Shaun Inman’s Fever. It shows you hot links, saved items, and other features you have come to love in Fever.
Mr. Reader: continues to be one of our favorite RSS reader clients for iPad. It syncs with Feedly, BazQux Reader, Feedbin, FeedHQ, Feed Wrangler and Fever accounts. The design is quite elegant and fast. It has 4 themes and supports multiple accounts. You can manage your tags, folders, and feeds (depending on the service you are using).
Reeder: Reeder has always been one of our favorite RSS readers (especially the Mac version). Now it is compatible with Feedbin, Fever, and other services. It supports multiple accounts and popular sharing services such as Pocket, Readability, and Instapaper.
Ashes for Fever: a universal, hand-crafted application for Fever. It supports Readability, Instapaper, Pocket, and many other sharing services. It shows you what is going hot too. The price of $7.99 is a bit of a turnoff.
Don’t know how to install Fever? This handy guide might help you out. Once you have it installed and activated, you can use the above apps to keep up with your feeds.
