When you have a device that is selling like hotcakes and comes with a powerful SDK, no wonder many developers try to learn how to write enhancements for it. Some IT professionals complain about some of their jobs being outsourced to India and China but in reality they can find even better ventures by taking up iPhone programming.

The iPhone platform is growing fast, and Apple has promised us a whole lot of new changes with the release of iPhone 3.0. That means the developers will have even more options to develop and sell their applications on iTunes. No wonder many developers are trying to pick up iPhone programming. When you see an iPhone development course get downloaded a million times in a flash, you know there is an interest in that field. Here are just a few topics that are covered in this free course:

  • Mac OS X and Cocoa Touch crash course
  • Objective-C for beginners
  • Memory Management & ObjC properties
  • Drawing & animation
  • View & navigation controllers
  • Data management
  • iPhone development best practices

iPhone development will be in demand for the foreseeable future. Many companies are still looking for developers who can help them enter the world of iPhone. And let’s not forget that top iPhone developers make a nice amount of money with their apps. My hunch is we will see many premium iPhone training courses launched in the future, and they’ll probably sell like hot cakes as well. So it may be a good idea to catch these courses while they are being offered for free.

Your Take: what did you think of Stanford’s iPhone programming course?
