It is an app connected sound monitor that alerts you to sounds in your home. It can alert you to appliances beeping, water running, baby sounds, and everything in between.

The companion app is available for iOS and Android devices. You can add your devices and turn it on/off  on your phone. You can also see what sounds you want this sensor to listen to. Multi-room listening is supported. Each device can alert you to up to 3 sounds.
