Verizon iPhone To Be Announced on Nov. 9th?

Verizon rumors have always refused to die. Now that we know Apple iPhone is coming to Verizon, rumor masters are looking to figure out when the device will be announced. These folks have gotten their hands on Verizon documents that suggest Verizon iPhone could be announced on November 9th.

What could that iconic device be? It could be potentially the iPhone. But there is no way for us to confirm this. Verizon has included the name of the device it would be launching in its past e-mails. While Verizon has been expanding its staff ahead of iPhone’s launch, many expected it to announce the device at CES 2011. According to TUAW, this could be an announcement about Motorola Droid Pro.

People have been talking about Verizon iPhone as if it would be magic. Just like AT&T, Verizon will have its issues with this device and the load that it will put 0n its network. AT&T is banking on that:

We expect whenVerizons network finally improves on speeds and critical capabilities customers want like talk and surf their network will be tested.

Many experts agree. We simply do not know how Verizon network will respond when a ton of people join its network to get their hands on CDMA iPhone. The company does sound confident. The truth probably lies somewhere in between. As Forrester Research’s Charles Golvin suggests, Verizon and AT&T have been learning their lessons, so it is more than likely that Verizon’s network won’t become crippled under iPhone’s load:

If Verizon were the first mobile company to carry the iPhone several years ago, they would have suffered the same problems as AT&T… Now both companies have learned about the habits of smartphone customers, and Verizon will be ready to allocate their resources accordingly.

Verizon may offer iPhone fans a better quality of experience but it is absurd to believe it won’t have its issues. There is no perfect carrier out there. People who will be turning to Verizon for the very first time for CDMA iPhone will realize that soon enough.

“Verizon may offer iPhone fans a better quality of experience”? What kind of a loaded statement is that? AT&T is a great cell company. I’ve had both Verizon and AT&T. I think I am qualified to say AT&T offers a better quality experience. AT&T scored top last year in customer service of all cell phone providers. I’ll never go back to Verizon. I had some really bad customer service experiences. Plus, look at the Verizon scandal this year of being caught red handed, no pun intended of over charging customers? This is a better experience? If you were thinking of signal quality, I disagree. I have dropped calls with Verizon, yes, in downtown Chicago. I haven’t dropped a call with AT&T yet, and the data speed is way faster. Your subtle degrading of AT&T is insulting.

Gerry. We are just reporting what other experts have said (or what people think they may get with a Verizon contract according to surveys). We have criticized both Verizon and AT&T in the past. But by no means we intend to insult the hard-work these companies put in to provide value to their customers.
