File Transfer Protocol (FTP) should not need any introduction to those of you who host your own website. It is often used to upload files from a private machine to a server. Unfortunately, it is not the most secure way to do this. That’s where SFTP comes into play. It provides you with file access, file transfer, and file management in a more secure fashion. We have already listed various FTP clients for iPhone and iPad here. Not all of them support SFTP though. Here are 4 SFTP apps that let you make secure connections from your iOS device:
FTP On The Go PRO: one of the best FTP clients for iOS. FTP, FTPS, and SFTP are all supported. Works great on the iPad too. Makes managing your files on the go very easy.
Gusto for iOS: this is a code editor and a FTP client. It offers syntax highlighting and tabbed editing. Supports FTP and SFTP connections.
Files Connect: a pretty decent file sharing tool for iPhone and iPad. You can use this to transfer files between Files Connect and your computer. It works with Windows, Linux, and Mac computers. SFTP, FTP, and AFP protocols are supported as well. The app can handle all kinds of files (documents, videos, …).
There are other ways to make SFTP connections from your iPhone / iPad. We found the above apps to make the process easy.
